COVID-19 CASES/day for 6 Regions at Same Scale
Why these graphs?
I’ve been relying on the WHO data at their very good dashboard (short link bit.ly/who-covid19-dash. Unfortunately, while that dashboard allows you to click on a country name to see the “case by date” graph, it doesn’t allow you to say “show me everything except China”.
As I’ve been explaining for a couple of weeks now, generally the available coronavirus visualizations are pretty bad, and the flashy maps in particular (not to mention the missing-in-action visualizations from CDC, and snapshot maps from NY Times) don’t allow you to see a forest-not-trees view of what’s going on.
Wanting to get a sense how things are proceeding outside China as a whole, I’ve come up with these graphs, and will update them daily (until WHO adds this ability to their dashboard — which I’d much prefer). All of them give a sense of the pace and scale of the outbreak progression that I have not been able to find elsewhere (and definitely not on all those maps I’ve been talking about).
If anyone knows any online source that is already providing these graphs, please let me know and I’ll just point to that source.
Dataset is at the WHO site, and my copy is here.
